With
a history of service to the community since 1982, OAK KNOLL MONTESSORI
has a long-standing reputation for providing an excellent educational
experience for children in a warm, nurturing environment. Executive
Director Candy Ketterman is a lifetime member of NCME (National
Center for Montessori Education). She Has a Master's degree in
psychology, with an emphasis in child development. Her State
of California teaching credentials Include Multiple Subjects
(preschool through adult), Specialist Instruction in Early Childhood
Education, Community College Counselor, and Community College
Instructor. She is also a certified instructor for the American
Red Cross. Faculty are college-educated with a career commitment
to Montessori education of young children. Teachers reflect the
multicultural composition of families at the School, and have
either lived or traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, the Middle
East, Africa, and the Americas. With team-teaching, a small-group
ratio of 8:1 is maintained. On going professional development
for faculty includes regular staff meetings, periodic in-service
training with a professional Montessori Consultant, and participation
in the annual NCME Conference held in San Diego. OAK KNOLL MONTESSORI
has a policy of open communication with parents, who are welcome
to observe their children working within the classroom environment.
Families of children not currently enrolled at the School are
invited to call for an appointment or to make further inquiry
regarding the program.
